In 1972, Mrs. Turner's oldest son, Ted L. Turner Sr. and his wife Elaine, founded Turner's Gardenland in Corpus Christi, Texas. Since 1972, the Turners with the help of their family, have grown this effort into one of South Texas' most respected retail nurseries and Landscape companies.

Boasting one of the largest inventories of tropical and landscape plants, such as palms, Hibiscus and several varieties of their own patented ever-blooming Oleanders, Turner's Gardenland continues to grow and serve its customer's with top quality plants and expert service.

Ted L. Turner Sr. has been in the nursery business for nearly 50 years and in addition to being an accomplished and Registered Landscape Architect, has developed and hybridized several varieties of plants. He has developed 6 different varieties of oleanders, and has been honored with several awards from the National Oleander Society. He has also hybridized 34 different colors of Morning Star Creeper as well as developed the Turner's Dwarf Variegated Pittosporum.

Elaine Turner, in addition to raising her three sons and one daughter, is a Certified Nursery Professional. Her sharp business sense has not only helped Turner's Gardenland grow into the business it is today, it also proved benificial to the nursery industry in Texas.

Elaine was the first woman to serve as the chair of the Texas Association of Nurserymen (now the TNLA). She had been the first woman director of the association and also served on the Finance Committee and as Chairperson of the Health Insurance Trust. She also served on the Nursery Advisory Committee for the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Ted L. Turner Jr., after a storied career with NASA in the late 1960's, joined his family's business when it was formed in 1972. He has become a Texas Master Certified Nurseryman and is now President of Turner's Gardenland and Turner Landscape Inc. The father of three daughters and one son, he carries on the torch for the Turner family with his wife Sherrie Turner, also a Certified Nursery Professional. Sherrie is the general manager and buyer for Turner's Gardenland.

Anthony Turner is the youngest of the three Turner brothers and serves as the manager of the Landscape department and is also a Texas Certified Nurseryman.
